Site prep checklist before your pole barn build
Access, drainage, utilities, and setbacks—what to line up before we mobilize.
A smooth build starts before posts go in the ground. Confirm driveway width and turning radius for concrete trucks and material deliveries, especially on rural parcels.
Walk drainage: where will roof runoff and splash from the slab go? Simple swales or gutter exits planned up front prevent water from pooling against the building line.
Utilities and easements should be marked—power, septic, irrigation, and future trench paths. If you are expanding an existing yard, note overhead lines and well heads.
Finally, verify setbacks and height limits with your city or county; HOA design rules sometimes add color and material notes we fold into the permit set.
